Overview
Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster of the American Hosta Society, 'Golden Wiggler' is a miniature hosta of unknown parentage. Its distinguishing feature is a narrow, undulating golden yellow margin that appears to shift position across the leaf surface as the plant matures, lending the cultivar its common name.
In the Garden
'Golden Wiggler' reaches a mature diameter of 10 inches (25.4 cm) and a height of only 2 inches (5.1 cm), making it suitable for troughs, rock gardens, and the front edge of shaded borders. Its lance-shaped leaves, 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) long and 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide, bear two to four vein pairs and exhibit a slightly shiny upper and lower surface. This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other miniature hostas, small ferns, or woodland groundcovers such as *Tiarella* or *Heucherella*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor regularly in typical hosta-growing zones.
