A sport of *Hosta* 'Samurai', registered in 2000, 'Golden Samurai' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with golden yellow margins. The leaf center is green, while the margin is a bright golden yellow, approximately 0.25 inches (0.6 cm) wide and slightly rippled, creating a sharp contrast.

'Golden Samurai' forms a dense, slow-growing mound reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 27 inches (68.6 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins remain vibrant without scorching. The yellow scapes, reaching up to 29 inches (73.7 cm), carry pale lavender flowers in midsummer. This cultivar pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials that complement its gold-edged foliage. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or woodland garden settings.
