Overview
Registered in 2006 by D. Beilstein and M. Zilis, *Hosta* 'Golden Goal' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from the pod parent *H. 'Glory'* (pollen parent unknown). It is visually defined by its broadly ovate, deeply corrugated green leaves with golden yellow, slightly rippled margins, complemented by golden yellow scapes.
In the Garden
'Golden Goal' forms a moderate-growing, mound-like clump reaching approximately 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and its medium size suits it for mid-border positions, shade gardens, or as a specimen in woodland settings. The gold-margined foliage provides contrast when paired with darker-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage the foliage, and deer are known to browse hostas, so monitoring or protective measures are advisable.
