Overview
Registered in 2006 by B. & W. Dove, *Hosta* 'Golden Dove' is a giant-sized cultivar distinguished by its large, nearly round leaves with green centers and flat greenish-yellow margins. The leaf blades reach 16 inches (40.6 cm) in length and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in width, with 13 to 14 pairs of veins and a lightly corrugated texture.
In the Garden
'Golden Dove' forms a substantial mound 32 inches (81.3 cm) tall and 90 inches (228.6 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in typical hosta-growing zones with partial to full shade; while the leaf margins become lighter in more sun, the foliage does not burn. Given its giant stature, this cultivar is best used as a specimen or focal point in large borders and woodland gardens, where its broad leaves provide strong textural contrast.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage and should be managed as needed.
