Overview

Registered in 1996, *Hosta* 'Golden Arrow' is a small hybrid derived from *H. clausa*, distinguished by its narrow, lanceolate green leaves with yellow-gold margins and a semi-upright growth habit. The plant reaches 9 inches (22.9 cm) in height and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter, with leaves measuring 5.5 inches (14.0 cm) long and 1.75 inches (4.4 cm) wide, featuring four vein pairs, a dull upper surface, and a slightly shiny underside with rounded leaf bases.

In the Garden

This slow-growing, small hosta is suited for shaded to partially shaded locations in typical hosta-growing zones, where its compact size and upright foliage make it effective in rock gardens, troughs, or the front of borders. Its modest dimensions also recommend it for container cultivation. Companion plants might include small ferns, *Heuchera*, or other dwarf hostas that share similar light and moisture requirements.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitoring and protective measures are advisable where these pests are prevalent.
