Overview
Registered in 2016 by J. Miller, this giant hosta cultivar results from a cross between *H. 'Justice'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Mesa Fringe'* (pollen parent). It is distinguished by its massive, broadly ovate leaves with medium green, heavily rippled margins, deeply impressed veins, and moderate corrugation, all borne on a mound-like plant that produces exceptionally tall scapes.
In the Garden
*H. 'Generous Jeff'* forms a substantial mound 24 inches (61 cm) high and 59 inches (150 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, where its large, heavily textured leaves provide strong presence in the middle to back of borders or as a specimen plant. The cultivar pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast with its bold foliage.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick leaf substance offers moderate slug resistance, though standard slug control measures may still be advisable in wet seasons.
