Overview

Registered in 2005, 'Gathering of Eagles' is a giant hosta cultivar originating as a seedling of *Hosta* 'Galaxy' with unknown pollen parent. It is visually distinguished by its large, nearly round blue-green leaves with streaked variegation in medium green, light green, greenish yellow, pale yellow, and greenish white, all set against slightly rippled white margins.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches 32 inches (81.3 cm) in height and 34 inches (86.4 cm) in diameter, with an upright growth habit and fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, where its deeply corrugated, moderately leathery leaves develop their characteristic blue-green tones and glaucous bloom on the undersides. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or background plant in woodland gardens, paired with ferns or shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick, leathery foliage offers moderate resistance to slugs, though standard slug management is advisable in damp conditions.
