Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, *Hosta* 'Gaga' is a small, mound-forming cultivar derived from a seedling of unknown parentage. Its distinguishing feature is a green leaf blade with light golden yellow margins, elliptic in shape with a tapered base.
In the Garden
'Hosta' reaches a mature spread of 24 inches (61.0 cm) and a height of 10 inches (25.4 cm), forming a dense, low mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is well-suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings due to its compact size. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, or shade-tolerant annuals.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may cause damage; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
