Overview

Registered in 1999, *Hosta* 'Frosted Dimples' is a medium-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Blue Dimples' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Silver Frost' (pollen parent). It is visually distinguished by its intensely blue-green leaves with creamy white to golden yellow margins, a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, and a cordate leaf base.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a mound-like clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the glaucous bloom on its leaves is best preserved. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds, paired with ferns or other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, it may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
