Overview

Registered in 2007, *Hosta* 'Frenzy' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its intensely twisted and wavy leaves, which feature blue-green centers with narrow, heavily rippled gold margins. The lance-shaped leaves, measuring 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) wide, bear 7 to 8 vein pairs and exhibit a glaucous bloom on the undersides, with a slightly shiny upper surface.

In the Garden

With a mature spread of 30 inches (76.2 cm) and height of 14 inches (35.6 cm), 'Frenzy' forms an upright, moderate-growing clump suitable for the front of borders or as edging in partial to full shade. Its compact size and distinctive foliage make it an effective accent among finer-textured perennials such as ferns or heucheras, and it performs well in containers. The gold margins may brighten with increased light, though full sun should be avoided to prevent leaf scorch.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Frenzy' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
