Overview

Registered in 2015, 'Fountain Glass' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar derived from an unregistered streaked seedling crossed with *Hosta* 'Lakeside Looking Glass'. It is visually distinctive for its very shiny, dark green leaves with golden yellow margins, combined with a lightly twisted, wavy, and moderately corrugated leaf surface.

In the Garden

'Fountain Glass' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 38 inches (96.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its glossy foliage provides textural contrast when paired with finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or heucheras. The plant's compact, rounded habit makes it suitable for border fronts or shaded beds.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable for this cultivar, as for most hostas.
