Overview
Registered in 1995 by J. & J. Wilkins, *Hosta* 'Footlights' is a miniature cultivar derived from a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Golden Hawk'. It is visually distinctive for its small, green leaves edged with medium gold margins, forming a compact, low mound.
In the Garden
Reaching approximately 13 inches (33.0 cm) in diameter and 3 inches (7.6 cm) in height, 'Footlights' is well suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its fast growth rate allows it to fill small spaces quickly. Companion plants include small ferns, heucheras, or other miniature hostas.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage the foliage, so monitoring and protective measures are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
