Overview
Registered in 1998 as a sport of an unnamed parent, *Hosta* 'Fisher's Green Magic' is a large cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with a dull upper surface and a glaucous bloom beneath. The foliage is mottled with slightly rippled margins and cordate bases, reaching 11 inches (27.9 cm) in length and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in width, with 11 vein pairs.
In the Garden
This mound-forming hosta grows to 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and spreads to 46 inches (116.8 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for mid-border or groundcover positions in partial to full shade. Its moderate growth rate and substantial leaf surface pair well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The plant produces scapes 23 to 31 inches (58.4 to 78.7 cm) tall.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor foliage and use barriers or repellents if necessary.
