Overview

Registered in 1991 by Kuk's Forest Nursery, 'First Impressions' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Goddess of Athena'. This small cultivar is distinguished by its dark green leaves with creamy white margins, forming a compact, mounded habit.

In the Garden

'First Impressions' reaches a mature diameter of 15 inches (38.1 cm) and a height of 7.5 inches (19.1 cm), with scapes rising up to 20 inches (50.8 cm). Its small size and neat form suit the front of shaded borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Pair with fine-textured woodland perennials such as ferns or *Tiarella* for contrast.

Care Notes

Grow in partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, with consistent moisture during the growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new shoots emerge; protect from slugs and deer where these are problematic.
