Overview
Registered in 1999, this large hosta cultivar originated from a cross between *Hosta* 'Pin Stripe Sister' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Maekawa' (pollen parent). 'Fiesta' is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with medium green streaking and slightly rippled margins, combined with a glaucous bloom on the undersides and a glaucous scape streaked with white.
In the Garden
'Fiesta' reaches a mature diameter of 28 inches (71.1 cm) and height of 19 inches (48.3 cm), with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with other shade-loving perennials such as ferns, heucheras, and astilbes. Its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed borders, though it is not recommended for containers due to its mature dimensions.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Fiesta' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate protective measures should be considered in areas where these pests are prevalent.
