Overview
Registered in 1992, *Hosta* 'Eventide' is a large cultivar resulting from a seedling crossed with *H. 'Tokudama Aureonebulosa'*. It is visually distinctive for its broad, green leaves with pure white, heavily rippled margins measuring 0.7 inches (1.8 cm) wide, and its substantial mature spread.
In the Garden
'Eventide' reaches a mature diameter of 40 inches (101.6 cm) and a height of 17 inches (43.2 cm), making it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, where its white-edged foliage provides contrast against darker-leaved companions such as ferns or *Heuchera*. Its large size and dense habit also make it effective as a groundcover in woodland gardens.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, 'Eventide' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
