Registered in 1988 by A. Arett and P. Ruh, 'Eunice Choice' is a small hosta of unknown parentage distinguished by its variegated leaves with green margins and a satiny upper surface. The foliage measures 5 inches (12.7 cm) in length and 1.75 inches (4.4 cm) in width, with five vein pairs and a glossy underside.

In the Garden

This compact cultivar reaches a mature size of 14 inches (35.6 cm) in both height and diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and small woodland perennials. Its small stature also suits trough gardens or shaded patio pots.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Eunice Choice' may be browsed by deer and slugs; monitor and manage accordingly.
