Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Baron' registered in 2011, 'Emerald Waters' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its lance-shaped leaves with medium green margins and a slightly shiny upper surface. The leaf blades measure 6 inches (15.2 cm) long by 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide, bearing 7 to 8 vein pairs, with a flat, rounded base and dull underside.

In the Garden

This compact hosta reaches a mature spread of 24 inches (61.0 cm) and a height of 6 inches (15.2 cm), forming a moderate-growing mound suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small woodland perennials. Its small stature makes it an excellent choice for edging or trough gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, so monitor foliage and take protective measures if necessary.
