Overview
Registered in 2000, *Hosta* 'Emerald Treasure' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Tokudama' that produces a large, upright clump of green leaves with golden yellow margins. The leaves are 9 inches long by 7.5 inches wide, cordate at the base, and dull on both surfaces, with slightly rippled margins and 14 pairs of veins.
In the Garden
This cultivar reaches 30 inches in height and 20 inches in diameter at maturity, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its upright habit makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen among ferns and other shade perennials. The gold scapes, which rise 15 to 20 inches above the foliage, carry flowers in midsummer.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard precautions against slugs and deer are advisable, as with most hostas.
