Overview
Registered in 2005, *Hosta* 'Electrocution' is a small-sized cultivar resulting from a complex cross of (*H. 'Swoosh'* × *H. longissima*) × *H. 'Red Neck Heaven'*, pollinated by *H. 'Elvis Lives'*. The plant is visually distinctive for its narrow, lance-shaped leaves that are deeply twisted, bearing medium green centers with heavily rippled, yellow margins measuring 0.25 to 0.5 inches (0.6–1.3 cm) wide.
In the Garden
Mature plants form a mound 13.5 inches (34.3 cm) tall and 28 inches (71.1 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. The twisted foliage and bright marginal variegation provide textural contrast in partly shaded borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. As a small hosta, it pairs well with fine-textured perennials such as ferns or heucheras, and is suitable for troughs or small pots.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Typical hosta-growing zones apply; monitor for slug damage, as the low, dense mound can harbor pests.
