Overview
Registered in 1987 by R. Savory, this giant blue-green hosta is a hybrid of *Hosta sieboldiana*. It forms a substantial mound of large, heavily textured leaves with slight undulation at the margins, reaching 42 inches (107 cm) in diameter and 30 inches (76 cm) in height. The foliage, with 15 pairs of veins, emerges blue-green and holds its color well through the season.
In the Garden
'Edina Heritage' is best suited to partial to full shade, where its blue-green leaves develop their richest coloration. At giant size, it functions as a bold specimen or anchor plant in the middle to back of a shaded border. It pairs well with ferns, *Astilbe*, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast in texture and form. Its substantial leaf mass also makes it effective as a groundcover in large woodland gardens.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; barrier methods or repellents may be necessary in areas with high pest pressure. It performs reliably in typical hosta-growing zones with adequate winter dormancy.
