Overview

Registered in 2002, 'Edge of Might' is a giant hosta cultivar derived from a first-generation seedling of *Hosta* 'Dorothy Benedict' with an unknown pollen parent. It is visually distinctive for its large, deeply corrugated, blue-green leaves with broad, variably streaked greenish-yellow margins that range from 0.75 to 3.5 inches (1.9–8.9 cm) wide.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms an upright mound reaching 32 inches (81.3 cm) in height and 49 inches (124.5 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its glaucous, blue-green foliage and gold margins remain most pronounced. The substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or accent in shaded borders and woodland gardens; its large leaves pair well with ferns and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like many large-leaved hostas, 'Edge of Might' may be susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing in typical hosta-growing zones.
