Overview

Registered in 2007, *Hosta* 'Edge of Glenn' was bred from the pod parent *Hosta* 'Flamboyant' and an unnamed seedling. This medium-sized cultivar is visually distinctive for its medium to light green leaves with variable gold margins ranging from 0.1 to 0.75 inches wide, and for its upright foliage habit that holds leaves well above the crown.

In the Garden

'Edge of Glenn' forms a clump 14 inches (35.6 cm) tall and 30 inches (76.2 cm) wide, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its upright leaf habit makes it suitable for mid-border positions where the leaf coloration can be appreciated. The ovate leaves with rounded bases and flat margins pair well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
