Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'August Moon' registered in 2012, 'Dusty Moon' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by irregular variegation that emerges with a slight bluish cast early in the season. The leaves are broadly ovate with cordate bases, medium green flat margins, and a moderately corrugated, flat surface that is slightly shiny above and dull beneath.

In the Garden

'Dusty Moon' reaches 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with an upright, moderate growth habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its medium size suits placement in mixed borders, shade gardens, or as a specimen plant. The green scapes, 18 to 24 inches (45.7 to 61.0 cm) tall, bear typical hosta flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protection from slugs and deer may be necessary in garden settings.
