Overview
Registered in 1983 by S. Moldovan, this small variegated cultivar resulted from a cross between *Hosta nakaiana* (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Ruffled Queen' (pollen parent). Its leaves are distinguished by dark green margins surrounding a lighter center, with six pairs of veins per leaf.
In the Garden
Mature plants reach approximately 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and spread to 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter, forming a low, broad mound. The scapes rise 29 inches (73.7 cm) above the foliage. This small hosta performs best in partial to full shade and is well-suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. Its compact size makes it an effective groundcover when grouped in shaded areas.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
