Overview
Registered in 1988 by Walters Gardens, Inc., *Hosta* 'Drip Drop' is a small sport of *H. 'Gold Drop'* distinguished by its green leaves edged in chartreuse gold margins. The cordate leaf base and contrasting margin color give this cultivar a crisp, two-toned appearance.
In the Garden
'Drip Drop' reaches a mature height of 16 inches (40.6 cm) and spreads to 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with small ferns, heucheras, or other low-growing shade perennials. Its compact size also suits trough gardens or small woodland pockets.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Drip Drop' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so regular monitoring or protective measures may be necessary in high-pressure areas.
