Overview
Registered in 2005 by P. & J. Ruh, this large, upright-growing cultivar is a select form of *Hosta montana* with unknown pollen parentage. It is visually distinctive for its medium green, ovate leaves with flat, marginally variegated edges, a lightly cupped and folded form, and a slightly shiny surface on both sides.
In the Garden
'Hosta Devon Tor' reaches approximately 30.5 inches (77.5 cm) in diameter and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate and upright habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border; it is not recommended for container cultivation due to its mature dimensions.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
