Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Delta Dawn', registered in 2003, 'Delta Desire' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with medium gold margins. The broadly ovate, lightly corrugated foliage exhibits a dull upper surface and a thin glaucous bloom beneath, with flat gold margins that provide strong contrast.
In the Garden
'Delta Desire' reaches a mature spread of approximately 55 inches (139.7 cm) and a height of 20 inches (50.8 cm), forming a substantial mound with moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, which require protection from strong afternoon sun to maintain leaf color. This cultivar's large size makes it suitable as a specimen or for the middle to back of shaded borders, where it pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Delta Desire' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
