Overview

Registered in 2011 as a sport of *Hosta* 'The Right Stuff', 'Daredevil' is a large, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with broad, flat, gold margins. The foliage exhibits a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, moderate corrugation, and a broadly ovate shape with cordate bases, while the stable variegation pattern distinguishes it from its parent.

In the Garden

'Daredevil' reaches approximately 24 inches (61 cm) in height and spreads to 50 inches (127 cm) in diameter, forming a dense, moderate-growing mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the gold margins remain brightest, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other shade-tolerant perennials. Its substantial leaf size and upright scapes, which rise 20 to 30 inches (51 to 76 cm), make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed border plantings within typical hosta-growing zones.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Daredevil' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so monitor foliage regularly and employ barriers or repellents as needed.
