Overview

Registered in 1973 by E. Fisher, this large hybrid of *Hosta* 'Crispula' is distinguished by its medium green leaves with many undulating margins and a cordate base. The variegated foliage, combined with a substantial mature spread, gives the plant a broad, textured presence in the garden.

In the Garden

Reaching approximately 27 inches (68.6 cm) in diameter and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height, 'Daily Joy' is suited to partially shaded to shaded borders, where its large, undulating leaves provide consistent ground cover. The 10-inch-long by 9-inch-wide leaves, with 13 vein pairs, pair well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its size makes it appropriate for mid-border placement rather than container culture.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, particularly during dry spells. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may feed on the foliage; monitor and manage as needed for the region.
