Overview

Registered in 1991 by W. & E. Lachman, *Hosta* 'Cream Cheese' is a small-sized cultivar derived from a self-cross of *Hosta* 'Crepe Suzette'. Its distinctive foliage consists of medium green leaves with creamy white to white margins, accompanied by several undulations along the leaf edges.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature diameter of 13 inches (33.0 cm) and a height of 6 inches (15.2 cm), making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container cultivation. It thrives in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or dwarf astilbes. Its compact habit and leaf size also make it an excellent choice for trough gardens or small-scale woodland settings.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor regularly and employ control measures if necessary.
