Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Cooltini' is a small, fast-growing cultivar derived from a golden yellow sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Dimples' crossed with *Hosta* 'Shining Tot'. Its most distinctive feature is a dense, mound-like habit of medium blue-green leaves with slightly rippled margins and a thin glaucous bloom on the upper surface.

In the Garden

'Cooltini' forms a compact mound reaching 9 inches (22.9 cm) in height and 23 inches (58.4 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where its glaucous foliage color is most pronounced. Pair with fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera* to contrast its broad, ovate leaves.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The moderate glaucous bloom on leaf undersides may offer some resistance to slugs, though standard slug control measures are advisable in damp conditions. Deer may browse young foliage.
