Overview
Registered in 1976 by P. Aden as a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Ogon Koba', 'Chartreuse Wiggles' is a small hosta distinguished by its narrow, lance-shaped leaves with green centers and gold margins. The leaf edges display numerous small undulations, giving the foliage a wavy, textured appearance that is reflected in the cultivar name.
In the Garden
'Chartreuse Wiggles' reaches approximately 6 inches (15.2 cm) in height and spreads to 9 inches (22.9 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as an edging plant. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or miniature sedges. Its compact size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Chartreuse Wiggles' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and take protective measures if these pests are present in the garden.
