H. ‘Charlie’

Overview

Registered in 2008 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Paul's Glory', 'Charlie' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its blue-green leaves with dark green, flat margins. The broadly ovate foliage is moderately corrugated, slightly shiny above with a glaucous bloom beneath, and features six vein pairs.

In the Garden

'Charlie' forms a mound-like clump reaching 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter and 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for border fronts or woodland garden settings.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods, applying fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Charlie' may require protection from slugs and deer in garden settings.
