Registered in 2005 by an unknown hybridizer, *Hosta* 'Changeling' is a medium-sized cultivar notable for its dramatic seasonal color shift from bright variegation to solid green. Its foliage features lance-shaped leaves with a very shiny upper and lower surface, medium green centers, and wide golden yellow margins that later fade to green.

In the Garden

'Changeling' forms an upright clump reaching 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 15 inches (38.1 cm) in diameter at maturity. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for most hostas, where its shiny foliage and purplish petioles provide textural contrast. Suitable companions include ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade perennials; its medium size makes it appropriate for border fronts or woodland garden mid-layers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges.
