Registered in 1986 by Caprice Farm Nursery, *Hosta* 'Chameleon' is a large cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its dark green leaves with white to chartreuse margins, a color combination that can shift in appearance depending on light exposure and season.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature spread of 56 inches (142.2 cm) and a height of 38 inches (96.5 cm), making it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its large, 12-inch-long leaves with 8 to 10 vein pairs provide substantial texture, and it pairs well with ferns or shade-tolerant perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Astilbe*. It is not suited for containers due to its size.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable for this cultivar in typical hosta-growing zones.
