Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Brief Encounter' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *Hosta* 'Pin Stripe Sister' as the pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its nearly round, moderately corrugated leaves of medium green with creamy white, slightly rippled margins approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, providing strong variegated contrast.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a fast-growing, mound-like clump reaching 21 inches (53.3 cm) in height and 33 inches (83.8 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and its bold variegation makes it effective as a specimen or in mass plantings. Its medium size suits it for border fronts, woodland gardens, or shaded foundation beds; companion plants might include ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Astilbe*.
