Overview

Registered in 2008 by D. Van Eechaute, *Hosta* 'Boracay' is a sport of *H. 'Captain Kirk'* notable for its unusual, complex leaf pattern. The blue-green leaves develop highly variegated white margins and a watermark effect, with a dull upper surface and glaucous bloom underneath.

In the Garden

This medium-sized hosta forms a mound 13.9 inches (35.3 cm) tall and 22.6 inches (57.4 cm) wide, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials. Its broadly ovate, lightly corrugated leaves with creamy white margins provide textural contrast in woodland borders or shaded beds.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protect from slugs and deer, which may damage the foliage.
