Overview

Registered in 2014 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Abiqua Elephant Ears', 'Betty's Glory' is a giant hosta distinguished by its large, broadly ovate leaves that are yellow with a wide, serrated green margin. The leaf blade reaches 16 inches (40.6 cm) in length and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in width, with 14 vein pairs, and is dull on both surfaces.

In the Garden

With a mature diameter of 36 inches (91.4 cm) and height of 24 inches (61.0 cm), 'Betty's Glory' forms an upright, slow-growing clump suitable for partial to full shade. Its substantial size makes it effective as a specimen plant or in the middle to back of a shaded border, where the gold-and-green foliage contrasts well with darker-leaved companions such as ferns or *Heuchera*. The green scapes rise 42 to 46 inches (106.7 to 116.8 cm) above the foliage.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed preventatively in typical hosta-growing zones.
