Overview
Registered in 2015 by D. and J. Ward, this giant blue-green hosta is distinguished by its intensely corrugated, broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases and flat margins. The leaves measure up to 18 inches (45.7 cm) long and 14 inches (35.6 cm) wide, with 16 pairs of veins, and are dull on both surfaces. The plant forms a mound-like habit, reaching 32 inches (81.3 cm) in height and 48 inches (121.9 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate.
In the Garden
This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue-green foliage retains its color and corrugation. Its giant size makes it suitable as a specimen plant or as a bold accent in the middle to back of a shaded border, where it can be paired with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials. The plant's substantial dimensions require ample space to develop its characteristic mound form.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the large, textured leaves may attract these pests in shaded garden settings.
