Overview

Registered in 2011, 'Belle Vernon Beauty' is a giant variegated hosta originating from a cross using *Hosta sieboldiana* as the pod parent and an unnamed seedling as the pollen parent. The cultivar is visually distinctive for its deeply corrugated, broadly ovate leaves with medium green, slightly rippled margins, a dull underside, and a notable white wire-like edge.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature diameter of 39 inches (99.1 cm) and a height of 32 inches (81.3 cm), with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It is suited to partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size makes it unsuitable for containers unless exceptionally large pots are used.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The cultivar is noted for slug resistance, but standard slug management may still be beneficial in wet seasons.
