Overview
Registered in 1983 by K. Vaughn, this medium-sized cultivar resulted from a complex cross: an F3 seedling of (*Hosta* 'Polly Bishop' × *Hosta* 'Blue Lace') × *Hosta* 'Summer Fragrance'. Its most distinctive feature is the blue-green leaf color, which is maintained throughout the growing season, with leaves measuring 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) long and 4.75 inches (12.1 cm) wide, bearing 8 to 10 vein pairs and blue-green margins.
In the Garden
Mature plants reach approximately 28 inches (71.1 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, placing them in the medium size class. This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, typical of blue-leaved hostas, where its coloration remains truest. It pairs well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials, and is suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant. The scape height is recorded at 33 inches (83.8 cm), though the upper measurement is listed as 0 inches, suggesting variability or incomplete data.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate deterrents may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
