Overview
Registered in 1979 by Cy. Tompkins, with registration by P. Ruh and P. Hofer, *Hosta* 'Antioch' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with light green-yellow margins. The leaf blades reach 10 inches (25.4 cm) in length and 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) in width, with seven pairs of veins.
In the Garden
'Holy Antioch' forms a clump 26 inches (66.0 cm) in diameter and 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height, making it suitable for mid-border positions in partial to full shade. Its medium stature pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The gold-margined foliage provides contrast against darker-leaved hostas or broad-leaved woodland plants.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor accordingly in typical hosta-growing zones.
