Overview
Registered in 2016 by an unknown hybridizer, 'Anna the Stripper' is a small hosta notable for its irregular, variable gold margins that are streaked with green, producing a pattern that shifts from leaf to leaf. The lance-shaped leaves, measuring 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) long and 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide, feature slightly rippled, golden yellow margins streaked with green, atop a green center, with a slightly shiny surface on both sides.
In the Garden
Reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter, this slow-growing, upright plant is suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or containers. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or small grasses that complement its compact form. The white scapes, streaked with green, rise 25 to 27 inches (63.5 to 68.6 cm) above the foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary.
