Overview

Registered in 1999, 'Amazing Grace' is a large hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its dark green leaves with wide, white, slightly rippled margins and dull surfaces on both sides.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a dense mound reaching 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter at maturity, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of shaded borders.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Amazing Grace' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
