Registered in 1998, this giant hybrid of *Hosta* 'Reginald Kaye' produces intensely blue-green leaves with flat margins, a slightly shiny upper surface, and a dull underside. The cultivar is visually distinctive for its cordate leaf base and substantial dimensions, reaching 13 inches in length and 12 inches in width.

In the Garden

With a mature diameter of 44 inches and height of 30 inches, 'Am I Blue' forms a moderate-growing mound suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in partial to full shade. Its giant size makes it appropriate as a focal point in woodland gardens or large shade beds, where its blue foliage contrasts well with golden or chartreuse companions. The plant's 27- to 31-inch scapes bear flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during establishment, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug damage and may require protection in areas with high deer pressure; it performs reliably in typical hosta-growing zones.
