Overview

Registered in 2005, 'Academy Dimholt' is a medium-sized variegated hosta of unknown pollen parentage, derived from a selfed seedling of *H.* 'Ginko Craig'. Its visual distinction lies in broadly ovate, dull-surfaced leaves with medium green, slightly rippled margins and a lightly corrugated, moderately flat blade.

In the Garden

'Academy Dimholt' forms a dense, mound-like clump reaching 18 inches (45.7 cm) in height and 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter, suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its medium stature and muted leaf surface make it a useful textural contrast alongside finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*. The short scapes (19–22 inches; 48.3–55.9 cm) bear conical flowers that sit low within the foliage, lending a compact appearance.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during active growth and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as shoots emerge. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed.
