Hosta ‘Academy Bonfire Glade’ is a registered cultivar () .

Year registered2003
Section classIV-1

Overview

Registered in 2003, this small variegated hosta originated as a seedling from *Hosta* 'Ginko Craig' with an unknown pollen parent. Its most distinctive features are upright, ovate leaves with medium green margins and a dull surface on both sides, combined with short, bright flowers that are sterile.

In the Garden

Reaching 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height and 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter with a moderate growth rate, this mound-forming cultivar is best suited to partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones. Its compact size and upright leaf habit make it appropriate for the front of borders, rock gardens, or containers, where it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, or other small shade perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, monitor for slug and deer damage, particularly on the tender new leaves.
