Overview
Registered in 2004 as a sport of an unnamed parent, *Hosta* 'Academy Another' is a small, mound-forming cultivar distinguished by its medium grayish-green leaves with pure white margins that exhibit irregular celadon streaking. The leaves are ovate with rounded bases, lightly cupped and corrugated, and feature eight pairs of veins; the plant rarely flowers.
In the Garden
'Academy Another' reaches approximately 13 inches (33.0 cm) in height and spreads to 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for partial to full shade in typical hosta-growing zones, and its compact size makes it appropriate for rock gardens, container culture, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, or small woodland perennials that complement its muted green-and-white foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, though the small, thick leaves are somewhat less appealing to pests than larger, thinner cultivars.
