Overview

Registered in 2009 by K. Walek, *Hosta* 'Abiqua Zodiac' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its ovate, moderately corrugated green leaves with medium to bright golden yellow margins, and its matching golden yellow scapes.

In the Garden

'Abiqua Zodiac' forms a mound-like clump reaching approximately 20 inches (50.8 cm) in height and 42 inches (106.7 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its gold margins remain brightest. The substantial leaf size and corrugated texture make it a suitable specimen for the middle of a shaded border or as a groundcover in woodland gardens; it pairs well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer deterrent measures are recommended, as both pests may damage the foliage.
